Petrel Sister's Rising Up

We have a lot of local gems here on Long Island, and three of these gems are named Jessica, Rebekah, and Destiny Petrel. These sisters form the band Petrel, a Pop/Rock group hailing from right here on Long Island.

Petrel's sound is bold and powerful. Along with the amazing vocal work done by Jessica, both Rebekah and Destiny play their own instruments and can sing. It really amazing to hear the voices of these girls, they are very talented.

The sisters have been very busy with putting on shows and doing charity work. Petrel has performed across the country at events such as a 17-city national tour as the opening act for the popular Razor & Tie CD Series "Kids Bop", the “Downtown Disney’s Indie Fest USA 2008”, and Crash Mansion in NYC. They have also been doing charity work across the globe, going into Mexico and Haiti to give out food to thousands of hungry children. While away doing charity they also put on a benefit concert for their thousands of Mexican fans.

If you haven't heard Petrel yet, listen to them HERE.

Want to see Petrel?? On Saturday April 11th at 7:30pm, PopCore Entertainment and Music School Inc will bring a one of a kind event to Adventureland (RT 110 Farmingdale, NY), as this years hottest commodity on the music business radar - Petrel - will perform a set of their soon to be worldwide hits. You can get free admission to the park before 6pm.

Come and hang out with us and Petrel!!

Tombular T shirt of the week!

This weeks t-shirt is from the band TOMBS. This shirt is black like the metal it comes from. Just looking at it might suck you onto the other side of the demon realm. But seriously, check out this design. It's rough edges really captivate the viewer. The ink splatters remind me of golden blood from the sacrificial lamb, it's wickedsick. There is so much detail put into the character. Even without eyes you can almost feel the goat staring at you, tempting you with anarchy, waiting calmly with it's hands together.

So check out Tombs' tee shirt HERE, and get one for your mom.

Rockin Night at The Crazy Donkey

Friday the 13th this year will be remembered for a long time. Twas the day when Cast In Shadows, Livid, Earth Eatz Dog, and Adler's Appetite rocked the house at the Crazy Donkey.

I would first and formost like to thank Micky James from Earth Eatz Dog for giving us an interview and having us at the show. Check out Micky's work at Freedom of Speech Recording Studio and be sure to say hi! Also, I'd like to thank Rick Eberle from Pop Core Entertainment for getting us in as well! You guys rock!

Doors opened at 6 and by 7 the place started to fill up. By 8 you couldn't move around without snaking your way through the crowd. It was packed. Also to my suprise, there was no banister between the crowd and the stage. So everyone was right there, gathered around the feet of rock stars rocking out.

Inbetween sets the Donkey provided the crowd with entertainment; music, alcohol and of course the Loaded Dancers. This would be the first time that I've seen them, and apparantly the term "loaded" means really sexy and hot. I wonder how much money they got from tips by the end of the night...

I must say, Earth Eatz Dog was incredible. They were the first band to fill in the gap between the first table and the stage, and without a doubt gave one hell of a performance. To my suprise Micky called me up on stage, and after falling off of it twice or tree times, I made it up there for my first on-stage anything! It is such a different feel up there. When you look out on the crowd going wild it really rushes your adrenaline and I can imagine it fuels the musicians to put out even more energy. The energy that Earth Eatz Dog put out was so awesome. They really have the ability to take the songs out of the studio and put them on show live and sound just as good. Keep on bringing the rock!

The band that was headlining was Adler's Appetite, with Steven Adler right there in the drummers seat. For those who do not know, Adler was the drummer for Guns 'n Roses back in the day. And you know what? He's still got it. They freaking rocked, everyone was having so much fun. They played the whole album "Appetite for Destruction", the 1987 Guns 'n Roses release. Although they were covering GnR, they simply rocked. Everyone was having a blast and you really got the rock star persona on stage. From the way they dressed to their solid perfomance, bravo. I take it back Adler, you still got it.

So that was a fun night! Come out and hang with us at some shows, we love meeting new people all the time!

T-Shirt of the week!

This weeks t-shirt is that of a band from Philadelphia called Circa Survive. You may have heard of them, and if you have, you know how much art is a part of their image in man
y ways. They make stop-motion animations, amazing designs for their merch and cd's, and of course great music.

Here's a tee from their collection of many. It had the cool graffiti look to it, featuring a bunch of different characters poking their heads out to say hey to the world, and spreading the message of peace throughout the land. Even the peace sign is alive and drooling hearts. This tee would please any bubbling artist, and with it's faded blues and yellows it makes it a good shirt to compliment the rest of your wardrobe.

Thanks to Circa Survive for designing such a cool Tee!

We out.

March Madness

The first real winter storm hit last night, the first of March. That did not stop people from coming out to Ollie's Point in Amityville to check out three fantastic bands.

The lineup was Article 19, Airdate, and Paging Grace. Each band had about an hour to play, which was plenty of time to showcase off their skills. When Jess and I got to Ollie's after a long and tiresome trip (another story, we only live a collective 15 min away from the place), Article 19 was ending their set. We got to catch a song or two, but for the most part they were jamming out. It is really cool to watch a band do that, it's almost like a freestyle on stage, and it just flows. Mad respect to them for coming down from Connecticut to play the show, you guys rock!

Both Airdate and Paging Grace are from Long Island. It seemed like they brought out a nice number of people to the show. Ollie's Point is a very big place and there were people everywhere. Although most were shy to step up in front of the stage, everyone was loving the music. Also in the crowd was a talent scout, which is always a huge plus for the bands. We saw him talking to Airdate on the side after their set, so keep your eyes out for big moves by them.

This show was Paging Grace's first LI show this year, for they have been in the studio recording a new cd. That's due out in a couple of weeks, and let me tell you, you're gonna love it. They are so much fun to watch live, and their lyrics are powerful and moving. That's another thing to look for. Watch for announcements on their myspace page.

It was a fun day, filled with snow and music, and we couldn't ask for a better Sunday!
