Last Summer, At Band Camp...

...I did no learn how to rock out! So this Summer I have to go check out DWEEZILLA!

Dweezilla is the opportunity for you if you was to improve your musical skills in a very short period of time. It is a 4-day, 5-night music bootcamp designed to expand the harmonic horizons of both amateur and professional musicians alike. This musical exploration and development camp will occur in the heart of the "Forever Wild" Catskill Forest Preserve in Big Indian, New York at the Full Moon Resort from Sunday, June 20th to Friday, June 25th 2010.

Disconnected from the busy chaos of the outside world, your days at Dweezilla will include gourmet meals provided by Full Moon Resort with master classes from Dweezil Zappa, Joe Travers, Pete Griffin, Scheila Gonzalez, Jamie Kime and Billy Hulting.

Private performances, intimate jam sessions, campfires, film screenings, and of course, the study of Frank Zappa's brilliant approach to music, his career, and legacy. Use your time at Dweezilla to get advice from the masters, perfect your sound, learn about life on the road, master improvisation, and much more!

"I decided to create a diverse music boot camp for people of all skill levels hoping to increase their musical prowess. It would make me very happy if I could help a fellow musician take their skills to the next level." - Dweezil Zappa

Accommodations, as well as campsites, are available at the Full Moon Resort and the nearby Alpine Inn. All Dweezilla activities will be held on-site at Full Moon Resort. Acres of fields, meadows, forests and streams provide a natural backdrop for a wonderful and memorable experience.

Sweet T

First off, big pat on the back for reaching the 100th post! It's an accomplishment hump and looking back, it's amazing this is still going strong! Thank everyone for your support, I will be posting a gift for you very soon!

Next part of business, a hardcore/metal band that you should be checking out is Bury Tomorrow. They are releasing an album March 16, 2010 calling 'Portraits'. You can listen to some new tracks on their myspace, and even pre-order the album with a tee-shirt.

I suggest this one. I like zombies and blood, so this stood out to me. A closer look reveals eye balls on the tips of the fingers, and a key hole dripping a river of blood in the palm. It is pretty darn cool, and at it's great price, you can get a tee shirt and a cd basically for the price of one.

Hot Streak 39

Friday's show was awesome! Special guest host General Money came in the studios to lend a hand on Uncharted Waves. We spoke to him about his most recent moves in making his way to the top. The General talked about a lot of things including his new recordings in TNM studios, his hot new tracks 'Mission' and 'Watch It', the Myspace hitting over one million views, his energy drink line General's Blast, and winning first place in the BTN MC Battle. It was a great time chilling with General Money on the show. We kept it interactive on the web cam and a white board while G Money's blackberry blew up, giving messages to the listeners. We also played a little hangman and gave away a copy of General Money's 'The UN' and Arj Barker's new solo album 'LYAO'. Download or stream the show, interview and the Moment of Zen, this show was chock full of goodness.

Music Video Meng

There are a large handful of bands that lay down some money or gather the super friends to create an awesome music video. Here at Uncharted Waves, I like to recognize the efforts and gret work put forward from these bands.

This week we'll take a look at a local NY band, Lion of Ido.

We've seen them rock out live and even scored a CD from them, but since then, my eyes and ears have been wandering to the hundreds of other bands. Since the last time they were aired on the show, they have done so much. They tour, engage in community service and best of all, release their new music free!

Download the "Hard To Love" EP and enjoy!

Uncharted Update

AS you know, being active on the internet takes a lot of time and effort. You have facebook, myspace, reverbnation, purevolume, aim, and twitter. So in an effort to make searching easy for you, I have efficiently organized my twitter into a list called "indie bands".

If you click on this list, you will find indie bands. I will be organizing another list for record labels. Use these as tools to find what you are looking for. I'll probably make a producer list as well.. Twitter is full of random people. But when focused, it is very useful.

So check it out, bands if you have internet connection, make a twitter, tell kids when and where shows are, tell them about about dates.. people do pay attention to it.

Going back to watching Black Hawk Down in HD saweet.

Love and Video Games

When I scored a Playstation 2 from z100, one of the first video games I bought was MTV's snowboarding game, and I was hooked. Not only was the game totally sweet, the sound track was hot. Ever since then, paying attention to songs in a game is a regular activity. You never know what you may hear and will stay stuck in your head.

That is the very reason why it's awesome when a band gets their music put into these games. One of the newer artists that's I've been airing on the show is getting into the new 2010 Winter Olympic video game by SEGA.

The song "A-O" by TV Heart Attack is going to be featured on the song track! TV Heart Attack is signed onto Thorny Bleeder Records, and you can download the song on the Get Thorny 2 album for free!

Live Music at the Olympics

Sound the horns! Unfold the flags from the balcony! Unleash the snowboards, skates, skis and bobsleds, it's almost time for the 2010 Winter Olympics!!

This year the Olympics are being held in Vancouver, Canada. The games will be held between February 12-28. These 17 days of Olympic sized fun has a projected estimate of 2.3 million attendees, not including press, athletes, officials and volunteers. With that, there is a lot to expect from the live performances going down around and during the Winter Olympics. And there are a lot.

There are a few of shows I've been looking at, but more specifically the bands that are playing at them. Two of these artists that I'd recommend checking out is Ross Neilson and Hey Rosetta!

Ross Neilson plays a mean blues set, as you may have heard on a previous episode of UW. He's been nominated for Best New Artist for the Maple Blues Awards, and back-to-back nominations for Blues Album of the Year from the East Coast Music Association. If that's not enough, he's being produced by two time Grammy nominee Cody Dickinson. And if that's still not enough, he spent two years living life to play music travelling around in his van. He is indie to the bone and has the talent to back it all up. You can download two of his albums from Thorny Bleeder Records for FREE.

Ross will be playing at several spots during the Olympics all at Atlantic House. However, this is not the only spot where bands are playing.

Hey Rosetta! will be performing at The Orpheum Theatre, The Granville Island Main Stage, GI Backstage, Whistler Village Square and the Surrey Celebration site. These guys are awesome, and even though they are playing only a few shows during the Olympics, they are worth the push to see. They have toured the UK and most of Canada, featured on MTV, won three East Coast Music Awards in 2009, as well as the CMW Indie Award for Best Album, and XM’s Verge Award for Best Album.

They record with Sonic Records.

Check out these artists and more at the 2010 Winter Olympic games! It's sure to be an awesome year!!
